The project investigates the response of continents to passive margin formation, as exemplified by the onshore part of the Scandinavian margin. The aim is to understand the interaction between faulting and landscape formation onshore Mid Norway in the time interval when the passive margin formed offshore. Lacking a stratigraphic record, age brackets have to be obtained using a variety of dating techniques. Dating of relict geomorphic surfaces using K-Ar geochronology and cosmogenic neon in quartz is a main task in the project, together with the dating of fault gouges using K-Ar geochronology. The project was funded by the NGU for 2012, but external funding is being sought for 2013 and 2014, under project proposal named Resource.
